This policy sets out where National LifeSkills Academy uses artificial intelligence tools in producing its courses and materials, and the limits that apply.

Where AI is used

• Assisting with drafting, structuring and editing written content.
• Generating illustrative images where no suitable licensed photograph exists.
• Checking text for consistency, reading level and house style.
• Supporting research by locating published sources, which are then read and verified by the author.

Where AI is not used

• AI is never the final authority on any factual, legal or clinical statement. Every such statement is verified by a person against a primary source.
• AI does not make or influence decisions about individual learners, including assessment results, appeals and complaints.
• Learner personal data is never entered into a public or third-party AI tool.
• AI is not used to generate images of real, identifiable people, or to imply endorsement by any person or organisation.

Human responsibility

Every NLSA course has a named human author who is responsible for its content, whatever tools were used in producing it. AI assistance does not reduce that responsibility, and content produced with AI assistance goes through exactly the same quality assurance and clinical review as any other content.

Images

AI-generated images are checked for accuracy before use, including that any technique, equipment, uniform or setting shown is correct for the country the course is written for. An image that would teach the wrong thing is not used, however attractive it is.

Transparency

NLSA discloses its use of AI to accrediting bodies and to purchasing organisations on request. This policy is published on the NLSA website.

Review

This policy is reviewed annually, and sooner if the tools in use, or the law governing them, change materially.
