Version 1.0
Next review September 2027, or sooner if law, guidance or practice changes

This policy sets out how National LifeSkills Academy assures the quality of its courses before publication, and how it uses evidence to improve them afterwards.

Before publication

No course is published until each of the following has been completed and recorded:

  • Content accuracy check against primary sources, with every statistic, legal reference and guidance citation traced to its source.
  • Subject matter or clinical review where the content is safety critical.
  • Assessment mapping check, confirming that every learning outcome is taught and assessed.
  • House style and reading level check.
  • Accessibility check, including captions or transcripts for audio and narration that matches on-screen text.
  • Terms and Scope check, confirming that nothing in the course claims more than the terms allow.

What we monitor

  • Completion rates and drop-out points.
  • Assessment pass rates and the performance of individual questions.
  • Learner evaluation responses and reflective practice submissions.
  • Complaints, appeals and reported errors.
  • Changes to law, national guidance and professional standards.

Review cycle

Every course is reviewed at least annually under the Course Content Review Policy. A review is brought forward when the law or national guidance changes, when an error is reported, when evaluation evidence suggests a problem, or when a complaint or appeal reveals a weakness.

Each course carries a visible version number and a content review date, so that learners and purchasers can see how current it is.

Acting on feedback

Evaluation responses are read and summarised at least termly. Themes, and the action taken in response, are recorded. Where feedback leads to a change, the change is noted in the course version history. Where it does not, the reason is recorded.

Responsibility

The Director is responsible for quality assurance and holds the records described above, as well as the appropriate qualification and experience, such as EFQM Assessor from the British Quality Foundation. Records are available to accrediting bodies and to purchasing organisations on request.
